Incidences of online copyright infringement seems to be growing more & more following the an incident that took place saturday 25 January 2014 where a writer also Malawi Gist owner/founder Brown Spade discovered his article published on Malawi Heat's blog.
Malawi Gist earlier on 24th January 2014 published an article in which they interviewed one of Malawi's female rappers, Lady Pace, titled One On One With Lady Pace which later on, on 27th January, Malawi Heat guys copied and posted the article on their blog claiming they interviewed the rapper. When the owner discovered the theft & questioned Malawi Heat men who are believed to be Pius Nyondo & Towera Kamkondo about it, the post of the article was immediately removed. Khunation® went further to find out which blog interviewed her, the rapper clearly said Malawi Gist interviewed her & that she doesn't even know Malawi Heat ever exist.
Since Khunation® is not familiar with the owners of Malawi Heat we managed to speak to the man behind Malawi Gist, the original owner of the article, who is also the Managing Editor at Malawi Gist, Brown Spade, who confirmed about the incident. When asked about the story, he mentioned & accused Malawi Heat of stealing an article from his blog & further talked of pledging a cyber war on Malawi Heat. On what step he has taken for theft of his article, we qoute him saying:
"A lot of young Malawians abuse online media and other people's intellectual property. Plagiarism is retrogressive and it's high time we put an end to this. I met my lawyers today and I've been advised. All I can say now is we'll meet in court."
Khunation® managed to take pictures of pages of the article from both blogs to compare, What we found is that the article was completely copied & pasted as you can see from the pictures below:
