One of the country's acclaimed poets, Qabaniso 'Q' Malewezi will feature on African Voices, CNN International’s weekly half-hour programme highlighting Africa's most engaging personalities.
The interview, with Vladimir Duthiers, CNN correspondent,, will feature Q as he talks about his upbringing, career achievements, passion for activism and future plans.
Q is not only an Icon in the Malawi poet industry, he is also the top man when it comes to producing & mastering music. He is the man behind Abstrak Beats Entertainment and his production credits include Peter Sambo, Khethi and the now defunct Real Elements.
As one of the very few trained music producers and songwriters in Malawi, Q graduatde from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and The Academy of Contemporary Music. He picked up his father’s (Justin Malewezi, former vice president of Malawi) guitar at 9, played the organ at 11, performed in a play at13 & then spent more time in the recording studio than class in high school at 16. He says, "I knew my life would be a never-ending creative journey."
Malewezi, who has performed in Zimbabwe and England, among many places, hours before performing held a workshop where he drilled poets and other writers at the institution in the poetry writing process.
