Meet The Model: Alicia Lady Boss.

Most of us admire other people's treasure without knowing we also have it until we have a heart to dig it out. For the past years when it comes to modelling in Africa, South Africa & Nigeria have been the only countries  ringing in our minds of having successful models in & outside their countries. When it comes to Malawi, it's been like we're too far from having such adored treasure. But today Khunation Mag® digs out one of the few Malawi's successful models.

She is known as Alicia Lady Boss but her real name is Thungeya Nhlane. She's a Malawian model based in London, UK. Born and raised in Blantyre, Malawi.  Went to Our Lady of Wisdom where she got her O-Levels in 2004. Like the most admired, famous & successful models in Africa, Alicia has more than a success story which she shared with Khunation Mag®.

According to Alicia, with her dream to become Miss Malawi, her career started when she won Miss Blantyre contest. With more coming her way, she landed a Shoprite contract to promote Grants Whisky in Malawi.

In 2004 Alicia left the country to live in UK, with her mind on modelling Alicia contested in Miss Malawi-UK contest in 2006 in which she was crowned Miss Malawi-UK. The following two years, in 2008, she hosted two shows, Malawi Independence Party & Miss Malawi-UK 2008 in Canning Town in a club called Afrique. In pursuing what she calls her passion, apart from having studied Information Technology at London College of Accountancy & Management, Alicia also studied Beauty and Fashion at London College of Fashion. Relishing her career, Alicia became a live TV Show host on BEN TV promoting Brazilian Hair & accesorries.

About her plans, the modelling queen said, " I'm planning of doing more shows for my country. At the moment I would like to organise a talent show for upcoming artists. I would also like to have a shop of my own where I can showcase some of malawian attires. Early this year I modelled for one of my friends of african designs at the Malawi Embassy house, her name is Phyllis Sweet Juice and now we are talking about working together in the fashion world & the talent shows." Alicia finally said "I would like to encourage all in fashion industry to bring fashion to our traditional wear, take designs of big brands and design the same styles on african attire.

In other things Alicia got love for entertainment.  Apart from hosting fashion shows, she organise &  host music shows too. She said, "God has always been on my side to be successful many things. In 2009 I managed to host Lucius Banda in club Afrique when he was on a tour and we asked him to perform briefly and it was good. In 2010 we had Theo Thomson who perfomed together with our own UK artist Hazel Mak in a 5 Star Hotel in Paddington called the Hilton Hotel." You can tweet Alicia on twitter @Aliciapartys
